Character: Sorbitol also called D-sorbitol, D-Sobit and D-Sorbite, is a kind of non-volatile sugar alcohols, with stable chemical characters, it is not easy to be oxidized in air and soluble in water, ethanol, methanol, isopropanol, butanol, cyclohexanol, phenol, acetone, acetic acid and two methyl formamide, slightly soluble in ethanol and acetic acid; sorbitol has cool sweet taste, sweetness is about 50% of sucrose, and with similar calorific value of sucrose.

Applications: Sorbitol is used as food additives, cosmetic raw materials, organic synthesis raw materials, moisturizing agent and stabilizer etc.; in the industrial field, sorbitol can be used for producing surfactants such as span and tween series, it can also be used to produce rigid polyurethane foamed plastics for flame retardant; and in the daily chemical industry, because of its moisturizing properties, sorbitol can be used instead of glycerin in the production of toothpaste, cigarettes and cosmetics etc.
