Character: Sorbitol also called D-sorbitol, D-Sobit and D-Sorbite, is a kind of non-volatile sugar alcohols, with stable chemical characters, it is not easy to be oxidized in air and soluble in water, ethanol, methanol, isopropanol, butanol, cyclohexanol, phenol, acetone, acetic acid and two methyl formamide, slightly soluble in ethanol and acetic acid; sorbitol has cool sweet taste, sweetness is about 50% of sucrose, and with similar calorific value of sucrose.
Applications: Sorbitol is used as food additives, cosmetic raw materials, organic synthesis raw materials, moisturizing agent and stabilizer etc.; in the pharmaceutical industry, it is used to produce the drug sorbitan ester for treating coronary heart disease, and it can be used as vitamin C producing raw material.
